About Supportive Living

Supportive Living merges the concepts of independent living and 24-hour care and support. It offers a home for people who value their autonomy and privacy, but also require assistance with daily living activities. Choice, shared responsibility, and managed risks are the key concepts on which Supportive Living is founded. Wherever possible, Supportive Living allows Residents the opportunity to direct their own lives to the maximum extent of their abilities.

‘Designated’ Supportive Living is a term used by Alberta Health Services which indicates that there is subsidy and placement of persons requiring Supportive Living services into “designated” units. Residents of Legacy Lodge are placed through Alberta Health Services Continuing Care. Personal care is supported by Alberta Health Services on-site Case Managers.

If you are interested in placement into Legacy Lodge please contact the area Continuing Care branch.

We're all about care...

The care team at Legacy Lodge creates Resident Care Plans, tailored and specific to each Resident, incorporating each person’s unique needs and preferences. These Care Plans are updated as needs change.
Care services include:

Care services are delivered by Certified Health Care Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses. Care Plan management and delivery is overseen by Registered Nurses at Legacy Lodge and AHS.

Dementia Care

At Legacy Lodge it’s our belief that people living with dementia should receive a specialized approach to care, where caregivers understand that the relationships with the Residents they serve have meaning.

Legacy Lodge has two 12-person cottage households – ‘Country breeze’ and ‘Woodside Meadows’. In these households we practice our Dementia Care Philosophy and received a Butterfly Household Award from Dementia Care Matters (UK) in 2018.

Our Dementia Care Philosophy:

  • Emotionally in-tune caregivers, personalized care and responsiveness
  • Familiar things, smells, tastes, sounds and things to do daily
  • An energized environment, free from the boredom and lethargy of institutions
  • Maintenance and honoring of sense-of-self and life history

End-of-Life Care

Legacy Lodge supports residents remaining at the Lodge as long as possible, and is committed to providing holistic end-of-life palliative care.
